The Brookline Food Coop is funded primarily by small donations from our participants when they shop. We receive no government funding, and all of our members are volunteers. Aside from a small expenditure for gloves, plastic bags and cleaning supplies, the vast majority of our expenses are associated with transportation costs (insurance, gasoline and repairs). We feel it is better for the self esteem of our participants to feel that they are getting a good deal, rather than a handout. For the optional $2 donation we request, the average participant may take home $50 to $100 worth of groceries. Very few charities can claim that much performance from a donation. If you can help with a tax-deductible contribution, please donate. Thank you.

If you would like to make a donation, please send a personal check to our office address:

Brookline Food Coop
36 Foster Street Extension, #2
Brookline, MA 02446

Your cancelled check will serve as a receipt for income tax purposes, if you itemize deductions.

If you would rather make a contribution directly from this site, we have a couple options. Our first choice is to donate to our Dwolla account. We prefer Dwolla because of its policy of not taking a percentage from donations to a small non-profit, like ours. It is like a personal check, but quicker. Alternately, you may donate through the PayPal "Donate" button at the bottom of the page. Although there is a small fee, some may prefer the familiarity of working through PayPal.
